چکیده

 B-complex vitamins and vitamin C are water-soluble vitamins that are not stored in the body and must be replaced each day.  These vitamins are easily destroyed or washed out during food storage and preparation.  The B-complex group is found in a variety of foods: cereal grains, meat, poultry, eggs, fish, milk, legumes and fresh vegetables.  Citrus fruits are good sources of vitamin C.  Use of mega doses of vitamins is not recommended.

Water-Soluble Vitamins: B-Complex and Vitamin C

What are Vitamins? Vitamins are essential nutrients found in foods. They perform specific and vital functions in a variety of body systems, and are crucial for maintaining optimal health. The two different types of vitamins are fat-soluble vitamins and water-soluble vitamins. Fat-soluble vitamins — vitamins A, D, E and K — dissolve in fat before they are absorbed in the bloodstream to carry out...

Urinary Water-Soluble Vitamins as Potential Nutritional Biomarkers to Assess Their Intakes

To determine micronutrient intake by dietary assessment is difficult because of high variations in habitual micronutrient intake. A nutritional biomarker can be an indicator of nutritional status with respect to intake or metabolism of dietary constituents. Recent validation studies have developed the urinary compounds as nutritional biomarkers to estimate nutrient intakes, and urinary nitrogen...

High Performance Liquid Chromatography Method for the Estimation of Water Soluble Vitamin in Five Wild Edible Fruits Consumed by the Tribal People of North-Eastern Region in India

Vitamins are essential substances which are required in small amounts in the body on a regular basis for normal health and various physiological functions in the human body. They are widely distributed in natural food sources and can be easily introduced into the diets to satisfy daily needs. Though vitamins are a group of organic compounds that have different structural and chemical properties...

Urinary excretion levels of water-soluble vitamins in pregnant and lactating women in Japan.

Recent studies have shown that the urinary excretion levels of water-soluble vitamins can be used as biomarkers for the nutritional status of these vitamins. To determine changes in the urinary excretion levels of water-soluble vitamins during pregnant and lactating stages, we surveyed and compared levels of nine water-soluble vitamins in control (non-pregnant and non-lactating women), pregnant...

Liquid chromatography with isotope-dilution mass spectrometry for determination of water-soluble vitamins in foods.

Vitamins are essential for improving and maintaining human health, and the main source of vitamins is the diet. Measurement of the quantities of water-soluble vitamins in common food materials is important to understand the impact of vitamin intake on human health, and also to provide necessary information for regulators to determine adequate intakes. Liquid chromatography (LC) and mass spectro...

Effect of fasting on the urinary excretion of water-soluble vitamins in humans and rats.

Recent studies showed that the urinary excretion of the water-soluble vitamins can be useful as a nutritional index. To determine how fasting affects urinary excretion of water-soluble vitamins, a human study and an animal experiment were conducted. In the human study, the 24-h urinary excretion of water-soluble vitamins in 12 healthy Japanese adults fasting for a day was measured. One-day fast...
